Wayne McInroy Obituary

Today we celebrate the life of Wayne McInroy. In his 75th year, Wayne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, at Springdale Country Manor. Loving Husband and partner of nearly 53 years to Ann (nee Marfleet). Proud father of Kerry Edwards (Rob) and Tracy Avis (Jerome). Goofy grandfather to Raimey, Ty, Levon and Jake. Dear brother of Darrell McInroy (Marilyn) and Andrew McInroy; brother-in-law of Pat Gordon (Dan) and Ruth Hall (the late Reg), and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Wayne is predeceased by his parents William and Jane (nee Downer) McInroy, brother Gerald Downer and brother-in-law Richard Marfleet.

Wayne was known and loved for his sense of humour, love of the outdoors (camping, fishing & gardening), and his ability to sniff out and devour any chocolate bar in a 10-mile radius.

Rarely spotted without his trademark Khaki pleated pants (never shorts) and a plaid button up shirt. Jangly loose change in one pocket, and a not-so-secret stash of candy or chocolate in the other one. Wayne doled out dad jokes free of charge, long before it was cool, and his constant smirk gave away that a punchline was coming long before he delivered it.

Wayne put in over 40 years at GE Peterborough, but always had a host of side gigs and hobbies that were his real passions. Including photography, cars, Antiquing, and running buses so local fans could take in Blue Jays games.  But his true passion was his three girls, his wife Ann and daughters Kerry and Tracy, and judging just how fiercely his girls loved him, it was the job he was best at. (Outside of the chocolate thing mention above)

The family wants to thank all those who have reached out offering their condolences, it means more than you know. In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at Little Lake Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Wayne, donations to the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society would be appreciated and can be made; along with expressions of condolence, at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com

P.S. While Wayne’s family mourns his loss, they also know that car salesmen everywhere are sleeping easier, knowing they no longer have to out duel and outwit Wayne, aka Wayner aka the Main Rod.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
