FRASER, Leona Bernadette: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Nana, aunt, Great Nannie and sister at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, December 9, 2019 in her 97th year. Leona, loving and caring mother of Frances (Rico), and Kathy. Cherished Nana of Chloe, and Lee Black (Amanda), and Great Nannie of Aleea, and Lydia. Dear sister of Curtis Marshall, and predeceased by her sisters Olive Lane, Martha Prodaniuk, Yvonne Henry, and brothers Garnet, Kenneth, Walter, and Dan Marshall. Remembered lovingly by her many nieces and nephews. . Leona Fraser was born in Coe Hill, Ontario in 1923. The 3rd of 9 children, she went to a one room school in Ormsby. Leona was a strong woman who survived the depression and worked in a munitions plant making shell casings during WW2. She worked hard all of her life and successfully raised her two daughters as a single mother. She was an incredible cook, a master of crosswords and cribbage and was the undefeated Scrabble champion. Leona’s love of animals (especially cats), reading and current events has been passed down to her family, who will miss her deeply.”
Relatives and friends are invited to a Service of Remembrance in the Chapel of HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm Father Damian Smullen officiating. Reception followed by interment in Little Lake Cemetery.
