Obituary

HILL, Barbara Jean (nee Campbell)

Peacefully with her family by her side at Hospice Peterborough on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, in her 94th year.  Beloved Wife of the late Claire Hill.  Loving Mother of Lori Hill (Mark Yeoman), Todd Hill (Debbie), Scott Hill (Jill) and Linda Coons (Scott).  Cherished Grandmother of Jodie (Jeff), Casey (Cole), Sam (Jenna), Mitch (Lindsay), Nick (Shannon), Allie (Dan), Lexi (Brock), Dawson (Dryden), Brett (Steph), and Braeden (Victoria). Great-Grandmother of Grady, Wynn, Payton, Wes, Riley, Freddie, Harper, Casey, Marleigh, Matteo, Hailey James, Harley, Jackson, and more on the way in 2026. Predeceased by her Sisters Shirley and Lois.

Barb’s faith was an integral part of who she was. Her over 70-year devotion to St. Giles Presbyterian Church and its parishioners will carry on. She was a long-time employee of the Public School Board, where she taught many students to drive before becoming a secretary renowned for her efficiency and ability to get things done. Retirement at 65 simply wasn't for her. She remained a highly sought-after school board employee until the age of 81, proving that hard work and determination don't go out of style.

Her skillset and interests expanded far beyond her professional work. She was a devout Blue Jays fan, an avid seamstress and knitter, and was known for hosting celebrations big and small, with always more than enough food. Her contracting and renovation prowess is seen in the many homes she helped improve, always making sure to add her own flare to the project.

Barb will be greatly missed by family and friends. Those who loved her will honour her through their continued generosity and caring that she spent a lifetime demonstrating for them.

A special thank you to Dr. Becca Webster, PRHC, and Hospice Peterborough for their compassionate care, kindness, and unwavering support during Barb’s final days. Your dedication brought comfort and dignity to both her and our family, for which we are deeply grateful.

Family held a private graveside service Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at Highland Park Cemetery. In memory of Barb and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson Canada, would be appreciated by the family.
