Obituary

GIBSON, Carol Jean:  January 4, 1935-July 20, 2026.

Carol passed away on July 20, 2026 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in her 91st year. Dearly beloved wife of the late John Ward Gibson ‘Jack’. Beloved mother of Susan (Craig), Doug (Holly), Rob (Marlene), Larry (Wendy), and Donna. GG will be missed by her 15 grandchildren; Travis, Jad, Brendon, Tristin, Courtney, Kylie, Grant, Larry, Ben, Madeline, Olivia, Ashley, Mallory, Brittany, and Jack.  She is survived by 27 great grandchildren. Carol is survived by her brother Robert Ferguson (the late Carole), and sister-in-law Anne Sargent (the late Ron). Carol will be sorely missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Audrey Ferguson, her brother Don Ferguson (Marie, predeceased), and her sister Verla Clarke. A private family service will be held at Mark Street United Church on Monday, July 27th with interment to follow in Rosemount Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life Reception will take place on Monday, July 27th from 1:00 to 4:00pm at Highland Park Funeral Centre. Carol wore many hats during her long and active lifetime. A business woman (Owner of the Kathryn Shop), a proud member of the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame; an active member and quilter at Mark Street United Church, a woman who was generous with her baking and a hostess with the mostess. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and has left a large hole in hearts of her family. Donations may be made  to Mark Street United Church, the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame, the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by her family. In addition, a kind act of charity in memory of Carol who was the personification of ‘help’ and giving  of her time, would be appreciated by her family.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
