Charles "Chuck" Rickard Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Wilfred Rickard on November 17, 2021, at the age of 76. Devoted husband (53 years) and best friend to Donna Cheryl (nee Rowe). Loving father to Shawn, Christopher (Karen), Kevin (Michelle), and Heather Smith (Cory). Proud grampy to Maleah, Braelyn, Jordan, Lyndsay, Evangeline, Cameron, Grace, Brianna, and Kohen. Survived by his siblings Philip (Jasmine), Reginald, and Terry Baillie, and sisters-in-law Diane Rickard and Carla Carlsen. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred Thomas Rickard and Joyce Patterson, siblings Joy, Lawrence, Keith, Dennis, Patrick, and Patricia, in-laws Robert Rowe and Lucy Eva Ashline, brothers-in-law Paul Baillie, Robert Rowe, and Calvin Rowe, and sister-in-law Ina Rowe. His many nieces, nephews and friends will sadly miss him. Chuck was born on March 12, 1945 in Birkenhead, England. He came to Canada with his parents when he was one. He spent his childhood years in British Columbia. After high school, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Chuck loved ships, his backyard pond and had a passion for woodworking and later in life researching his ancestry. But most of all he loved his family. He was a child of God and attended The Parish in Peterborough. His memory will live on in all who loved him, and we find comfort knowing he has returned home to our Lord and Saviour. Luke 2:29-32. All are invited to attend a celebration of Chuck’s life at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. followed by a reception. Due to limited space, those wishing to attend the celebration of life must pre-register below. To allow for full capacity in the funeral home, proof of double vaccination and a piece of photo identification is required if you are attending. Masks or face coverings are mandatory.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Diabetes Canada, the University Health Network in Toronto, or the dialysis unit at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Consider becoming an organ donor. Sign up at beadonor.ca.
