It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel James Fountain, age 34, of Oshawa, Ontario, on July 28, 2026, following a tragic accident on July 22, 2026. Daniel was crossing the street when he was struck by a truck.
A gentle giant with a great sense of humour, Daniel found joy in the things he loved: building with LEGO, collecting and playing Magic cards, gaming, and spending long, relaxing hours smoking meat on his Big Green Egg smoker. He was a skilled electrician and proud member of the team at Black & McDonald, where he was known for his talent, work ethic, and kindness.
Daniel’s heart was deeply marked by the loss of Kelly, the love of his life, who died tragically in a car accident in 2020. He struggled to go on without her, yet he continued to show up for family and friends with warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength.
He was the beloved son of Dave and Heather Fountain; cherished brother of Mandy Couper (Nick); and devoted new uncle to Jason Couper, who brought him immense pride and joy. Daniel’s love for his family and friends was unwavering, and he will be remembered for his big heart, easy laugh, and the way he made people feel seen and cared for.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the first responders, Ross Memorial Hospital, Ornge ambulance services, and Sunnybrook Hospital for their amazing care and compassion for Daniel. We also thank Black & McDonald for their overwhelming support and kindness during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 9th between 1:00 to 5:00 at the
Guild Inn Estate
201 Guildwood Pkwy
