Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Adrian Austin Minor, who passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born in Wainfleet, Ontario, on June 6, 1941, Adrian was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and an exceptional thoracic surgeon whose life was defined by service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his patients. A graduate of the University of Toronto, he dedicated his career to thoracic surgery at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where he cared for generations of patients. His love of surgery never diminished, and his dedication to medicine was so great that he continued practicing until the age of 80.

Those who worked alongside Adrian knew him as a gifted surgeon, a trusted colleague, and a physician who always placed the well-being of his patients above all else. He approached every day with humility, precision, and compassion, considering it a privilege to care for others. For Adrian, medicine was never simply a profession—it was his life's calling.

Beyond the operating room, Adrian embraced life with equal enthusiasm. He had a lifelong passion for golf and skiing, finding joy in both the challenge of the game and the exhilaration of the slopes. He treasured the friendships and camaraderie these pursuits brought him. He was also known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour, always ready with a clever remark that could lighten any moment and bring a smile to those around him.

Above all else, Adrian cherished his family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 54 years, Diane; his children, Sam and Logan; his children-in-law, Jennifer and Todd; and his beloved grandchildren, Gryffin, Austin, Kieryn, and Emilie. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Benjamen, whose memory remained forever close to his heart. Adrian is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Linda Grantier, and her husband, Steve; his sister-in-law, Marilyn, and her husband, Wayne; along with nieces and nephews that he loved so dearly, dear friends, colleagues, and former patients whose lives he touched.

Adrian will be remembered not only for the lives he saved and the patients he comforted, but also for his integrity, generosity, quiet strength, infectious humour, and deep sense of purpose. His legacy lives on through his family, the many colleagues he mentored, and the countless individuals whose lives were changed by his skill, compassion, and care.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
