Gertrude 'Grace' Millar

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our loving mom Grace at PRHC with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in her 96th year. Grace was predeceased by her parents Cliff and Irene Huston and was the loving wife of Jim (D.2022) for 70 years. Grace leaves behind her greatest legacy her family.

Grace is survived by her six children Judy Heasman, Mary Jane Stoner (Garth), Jamie Ferguson (Steve), Jim (Barb), Cindy Cameron (Scott) and Bill (Brooke).  Much loved Nanny to 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great- great granddaughter.  Remembered by her sister Kay Nickle and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Helen Robson, Fran Nolan, and Jane Zeller. Survived by sister in-law Dorothy Dettman (Al).  

Special thank you to moms devoted friend and coffee buddy Ellen whom she met while working at Sears and continued to remain friends after retirement.  Also, a special thank you to Lori Meier for her companionship and support over the past few months and to the emergency department at PRHC especially Dr. Allie, Dr. Maloney and nurse Anna. We are so grateful for the compassion and care you gave mom and ourselves.  You made a difficult situation a little more bearable.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday July 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Highland Park Funeral Home, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough.

In Lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to PRHC Hospital Foundation; Emergency Department or the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough.
