McKinlay, Hannah Evelyn (nee Wright) –

Peacefully at her son Doug McKinlay’s residence in Ottawa on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the age of 97.  Beloved wife of the late Murdoch Donald McKinlay. Loving and generous mother of Donald, Fred (Theodora), Doug, Ken (Amber), Carly and the late Jim McKinlay (surviving wife Mary).  Sadly missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings Andy, Bruce, Joe, Stewart, Mary, Ida, Margaret, Essie, Winnie and Frank. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. 

Hannah was kind and light-hearted, a loving and gentle soul who loved her family beyond measure.  She was a people person to the core.  Her home was like Grand Central Station, always making everyone welcome.  She was intelligent and talented in many areas:  From a master bridge player, sewing expert, crossword queen, poet and homemaker extraordinaire to the top salesperson at her beloved job at Birks. 

Most importantly to her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.   We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful and kind Mother.  We are forever grateful, Mom. We love you and we will miss you.

Hannah was so happy to have lived with her son Doug McKinlay for the last 12 years of her life in Ottawa. She made new friends at the revolving door of Doug's house and loved her four dogs Buttons, Phoebe, Buddy and Foxy. We thank Doug, Don and grandson Brian for their love and care of Mom over all those years.

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday July 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Highland Park Funeral Centre (2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough). Covid protocols will be in place and masks are mandatory.  Limited space is available, so please register your attendance by visiting Hannah’s tribute page on the Highland Park website. You are invited to watch the Funeral Service via live stream by visiting www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com and clicking on the link on Hannah’s tribute page. Interment will follow immediately at the Highland Park Cemetery.
