Peacefully, with his family by his side at Hospice Peterborough, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 69 years of age. Beloved husband of Susan (née McMurray) for 45 wonderful years. Loving father of Ashley McIntyre and her husband Ian, Kayla Evans and her husband Shawn, and Terri-Lynn Donaldson and her husband Jamie. Proud Papa to Paityn, Austyn, Ava, Hayden, Ella, Emery, Rhett, Levi, Beau and Ivy. Dear brother of Anita Young and her husband Terry, Bryan Willemsen and his wife Wendy, Wayne Willemsen and his wife Rosemary, Nanda Smith and her husband Ron, Tim Willemsen and his wife Christine. Harley will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, former co-workers, and countless friends.

Harley dedicated many years to the Ministry of Natural Resources before retirement, but he was never one to slow down. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether helping family, tackling a project, or supporting a friend. A longtime local hockey referee and avid golfer. Harley was known for his warm smile, kind heart, and ability to make everyone around him feel welcome.

His greatest joy was his family, especially time spent together at the cottage. Whether around a campfire, on the lake, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments meant everything to him and will remain treasured memories for all who knew and loved him.

The Willemsen family invites relatives and friends to an Appreciation of Life on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with words of remembrance beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff at Hospice Peterborough, Dr. Becca Webster and the Palliative Care Team at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, and Dr. Frank Gifford for their exceptional care, compassion, friendship, and support.

In memory of Harley, and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated by the family.
