ENGELKE, Johanna “Jenny” Cornelia (nee Reniers)

Born July 5th, 1930 in Zevenbergen, the Netherlands.  She passed away peacefully on June 5th 2021 in her 91st year, at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  Jenny was one of 11 children, four remaining.  She was the wife of the late Hermann Engelke and is survived by her three children, Marlyn Dubay (Bob), H. Christopher, and Erick (Rosie), five granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren.

Jenny came to Canada in 1958.  She was renowned all her life for her prolific and beautiful sewing and knitting.  After she raised her family, Jenny and Hermann became the owners of Seweze Sales, a popular sewing store where she also taught lessons.

Over her lifetime, she donated many knitted works to charities, schools, and churches for raffles, and created displays that are popular at the dialysis clinic and the retirement home where she lived.
