Larry Joseph Hansford

Larry Joseph Hansford October 26 1948 - April 29 2026

Larry passed away peacefully with Family at his side at Peterborough Hospice after a short illness with cancer.  Predeceased by his parents Al and Val Hansford.  He will lovingly be missed by his wife of 46 years Annie (Sikma).  He loved and is so proud of his children Duane (Steph), Jennifer McMillan, Jake (Kate) and Daniel (Mel).  His loving grandchildren Valena, Anna, Ella, Lila, Hugh, Ethan, Bodhi and Emmy fondly called him Grandpa , and at times with a smirk on their faces, Grumpy Grandpa.  Survived by his loving sister Jacquie Hansford (Joe Boyd) and brother in laws Clarence Sikma (Nellie) and Eddie Sikma (Dianne).  Uncle Larry will be missed by many nieces and nephews of whom he always loved chatting with.  Larry aka "Relic"  will not be forgotten by the Boys in the Hood and the Kid's friends who dubbed him with that name.

We experienced a sense of Thankfulness, Relief and Joy for Larry during his passing at Hospice.  He was so blessed to spend the last leg of his journey at this Beautiful and Caring Place. We extend our gratitude to Lisa and Carolyn who are just 2 of the Angels in disguise there.  Thank you to the caring staff and volunteers at Hospice.  Special thanks to Dr. Sisson (Lakeridge, Oshawa), Dr. Emily Hughes and the professional staff on the 4th floor and Palliative Care (PRHC).  Special Mention to the compassion of the MAID team, and with prayers answered, did not need to intervene.  Thank you to Dean Gemmiti, Funeral Director at Highland Park, for being patient, answering our questions, and guiding us to decisions made.  Donations to Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.  

Please join our Family as we look forward to sharing memories, stories, and a few laughs for Larry's Celebration of Life at Highland Park Funeral Centre 2510 Bensfort Rd. Friday May 29, 2026 from 4pm - 8pm.  Tributes will be presented at 6:30 pm.
