Loretta Bernadette (O'Brien) Parody

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 4, 1937, Loretta Bernadette Parody (née O'Brien) passed away peacefully at Lakefield Extendicare on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the age of 89.

Loretta was the beloved wife of Arthur, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion. Married on April 21, 1957, they recently celebrated 69 wonderful years of marriage together.

She was a cherished mother to Susan (John), Alex, and Josephine (Peter). Loretta was a proud and devoted grandmother to Oliver, Mason (Sarah), and Harrison, and a loving great-grandmother to Genevieve and Callum. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Loretta raised her family in Toronto, where she also enjoyed a fulfilling career working in the city's financial district. In retirement, she embraced her creative spirit through sketching and painting and delighted in travelling the world on numerous cruises.

Proud of her Irish heritage, Loretta was always ready for a bit of craic, a hearty laugh, and, a good Irish whiskey. Her warmth, wit, and joyful spirit made her a pleasure to be around, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Lakefield Extendicare for the exemplary care, compassion, and kindness shown to Loretta and to her family throughout her time there.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that Loretta's love, laughter, and gentle spirit will remain with us always.

A Celebration of Loretta's Life will be held in the fall. Details will be announced at a later date.
