It is with great sadness that the family of Mickey Hewie announces his passing at P.R.H.C. on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021, at the age of 90.
Mickey was the son of the late Wallace and Edna Hewie (Blake) and a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, many of whom thought of him as a father/grandfather. He is predeceased by his brothers Lionel, Bernard, and Gerald (Joe), and sisters Esther, Jean, Derene and Merele.
Mickey was a long term employee of the City of Peterborough Board of Works, retiring in 1996 as well as a long time member of the Navy club. Mick played senior baseball for Bill’s Lunch in the Peterborough Softball Association and was an avid sports fan. His favourite teams were the L.A. Dodgers, Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Cowboys. Mick had a wonderful sense of humour and was always available to help anyone.
We would like to thank Dr. Berg, Dr. Meade, the nurses on 3C at PRHC, and the PSW’s who took care of him at home. A special thank you to Kellie Able for helping Mick over the past years.
Cremation has taken place. At Mick’s request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
