Robert 'Bob' Anthony Marler

MARLER, Robert Anthony ‘Bob’: Peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday March 4, 2021 in his 85th year. Bob, beloved husband of 64 years to Kay (nee McKinnon). Loving and devoted father of Mark (Kathy), Miriam, and Alexis ( Charlie) d.  Cherished Grampa of David, Maggie, Michael, Alicia (Andersen), Jennifer, and Great Grampa of Dylan, Liam, and Everly. Survived by his sisters Florrie and Rhona, and predeceased by his brothers Patrick, Fred, Jack and sisters Eade, Dorothy and Mabel. Remembered lovingly by his many nieces and nephews and by his life long friend Robert Sherring from childhood in Bournemouth, England now residing in Milton Ont. Bob came to Canada as a young man of fifteen years of age to work with his uncle in Toronto, later working with the TTC for many years. It was there that he met and married Kay.
They moved to Peterborough where Bob worked for over twenty years as a bus driver with Peterborough Transit. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a ready smile, for his warmth and approachability. Bob was a long time member of the Peterborough Horseshoe and Dart clubs. For years he and Kay were faithful and active parishioners of St. Paul’s Church Lakefield, and it was at St. Paul’s where Bob became a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed woodworking carpentry and travelling, but was happiest when surrounded by his family who will miss him dearly. In the last years of his life Bob was afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease, but with the compassionate care of the nurses and PSW’s of St. Elizabeth’s Health Care and Nightingale, Bob was able to remain at home, for which his family will be forever grateful. A Private Family service will be held in the Chapel of Highland Park Funeral Centre on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 pm. with Father Damian Smullen officiating.
