Ruth (Hickey) Heffernan

HEFFERNAN, Ruth (nee Hickey) passed away Thursday March 9 in her 85th year at PRHC with family by her side. 

Ruth was born November 4, 1938 to the late Butler Hickey and Babe Watson and was a beloved wife of the late Wink (Christopher) Heffernan. 

Ruth was a long time member of the YMCA, an Avid Skier which enabled her to travel the world. She was a volunteer at the soup kitchen, hospice and the hospital, and was retired from Marycrest. She was a loving and devoted Mother of Peter (Anne), Sean (Trudy), Janet Sheedy (Rich), Chris, and Grandmother of Niki (Sonny), Dalyn (Scott); Sarah; Carla (Andy), Ryan (Brooke); Adam (Kristen), Tori, and Great Grandmother of Nora, Nolan, Hannah, and Brookson. Dear sister of John Hickey (Marilyn), Peter Hickey (Colleen), Michael Hickey (Kay), and predeceased by her sisters Anne Marie Hickey (Gary), Jane Livingstone (Bob), and brother Jim Hickey (Linda). Sister-in-law Kevin Heffernan (Barbara, predeceased), Michael Heffernan (Elaine), and predeceased by Middy Murphy (Paul, predeceased),  Don Heffernan (Cecile, predeceased), and Della Johnston (Bernie, predeceased). Remembered lovingly by several nieces and nephews.  Ruth’s family would like to thank the caring staff of Applewood Manor. St. Joseph’s at Fleming, and PRHC for the care and compassion shown to Ruth and her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ruth’s Memorial Service in the Chapel on Highland Park Funeral Centre, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00am.  Interment and reception to follow.
