Tammy (Nurse) O'Connor

O’CONNOR, Tammy (Nurse)   August 23, 1958 – January 20, 2023

With her family by her side, Tammy passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2023.  Tammy was the most caring, compassionate and loving person that ever came along.  She was always thinking of others and what she could do for them, never about herself.  Her beautiful smile always lighting up the room and her amazing personality made her such an incredible woman to be near.  The world just got a little darker with her loss but heaven surely has been upgraded with her addition.                                                                                                                                  Tammy was the beloved wife and best friend of husband Pat O’Connor.  Together they were so proud of their two children and their young families.  Daughter Shontelle with Sheyanne and son Shawn (Jeni) with Lily, Cambrie and Patrick.  Her two faithful dogs Kita and Charlie whom she adored, were close by at all times during this battle and will surely miss their chats and treats.  Charlie has spent a lot of time checking rooms and looking for Tammy since she departed.                                                                                                                                                                  Tammy was predeceased by her loving parents, Elgin and Joy Nurse, both of Peterborough.                                                                                                                                                         Tammy was an adoring mom and nana to her family and cherished every moment she talked to them or played with them during visits.  She truly loved spoiling them with as many gifts as possible for what ever the occasion may have been.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Luckily for the Peterborough economy there probably were not many stores that hadn’t been visited by this lovely lady, who seemed to know an awful lot of store personnel personally in so many different stores around this area.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Family came first and foremost from day one with Tammy.  Being able to enjoy her kids and grand kids was the ultimate satisfaction for her.  Watching her two kids in action, what ever the event or sport was, always put a proud smile on her face.  With the grandchildren coming along, came a chance to do it all again.  Watching each of them play never ceased to be a top priority and she had looked so forward to their futures and watching them enjoy and succeed at whatever they tried.                                                                                                                                             Tammy was a true friend who valued the people around her.  She enjoyed getting out with her former coworkers or with her cousin Nancy for chats and snacks.  Over the years she always looked forward to chatting with her most trusted and valued friend Patti.  Any Tim Hortons was a good place to chat, laugh and try to drink them dry.  So many friends, too many to mention but she enjoyed them all.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    After a courageous battle with cancer, that threw everything at her time and time again, Tammy reluctantly yet mercifully went on to rejoin her loving parents.                                                      Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at PRHC Cancer Care, to those at Princess Margaret who were involved and to the nurses who came by on home visits during this ongoing battle.              A very special thank you to an “Angel in disguise” Doctor John Beamish who was by her side on many occasions to help her through the final months and days of this nightmare.  You were and are the kind of doctor that other doctors should strive to be like.  You certainly helped to make our lives a little more bearable while fighting the fight of her life.                                                              A private Ceremony with immediate family was held at Highland Park Cemetery.  Donations to PRHC Cancer Care or to the Humane Society would be appreciated.  Online condolences can be made through  www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com    would be appreciated.
