It is with profound sadness that the family of Wadsworth D. Kulatungam announces his peaceful passing on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, surrounded by the love of his family.
Wadsworth was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, respected educator, and loyal friend. He dedicated more than 50 years of his life to education, inspiring generations of students with his kindness, patience, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the power of learning. He began his teaching career at Jaffna College in Sri Lanka before continuing his vocation in Canada with the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board (PVNCCDSB) and the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB).Whether in the classroom or beyond, Wadsworth was known for his gentle spirit, quiet humility, generosity, and genuine care for everyone he met. His influence reached far beyond the schools where he taught, and his legacy will live on through the countless students, colleagues, friends, and family whose lives he touched.
Beloved husband of Cherry (Joan). Loving father of Lakshani (Jonathan) and Philip (Nancy). Dear brother of Lyman (Devu) Kulathungam and Rajan Kulathungam. Wadsworth was predeceased by his beloved parents, Lyman and Dhiviam Kulathungam, and by his siblings, Jeyam Kulathungam and Vilo Pooranampillai. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, former colleagues, and the many students whose lives he enriched throughout his remarkable career.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, onSaturday, August 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral centre on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their compassionate care and support.
Forever remembered for his kindness, humility, dedication to education, and deep love for his family, Wadsworth leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
