William John Scott passed away at the age of 80 on May 4, 2026, after a long and courageous battle from a stroke on December 25, 2023. He was surrounded by the love of his family before peacefully passing.

John was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Helen (2018) whom he dearly missed. John was also predeceased by his parents, Bill (1957) and Mary (1985), and brother-in-law, Bob Blackshaw.

John is survived by his children Mark (Kirstin Parry), Steven, and Melissa (Erin McCabe). He was the proud Poppa of Morgan, Rylan and Trevor. He is also survived by his brother, Doug, wife, Chris, and uncle to Susan.

John worked at OMC for 30 years and then finished his career with AON and MPAC. He was also an active community member. A proud and longtime member of Peterborough Masonic Lodge 155, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and the Royal Arch of Freemasonry. John served numerous years on the boards of Peterborough Masonic Temple, Northminster Court, the Adam Scott Foundation, and the Adam Scott Hall of Honour (inducted 1996).

We are thankful for the support and care dad received at Lakefield Extendicare and PRHC. We would also like to thank those that frequently visited with dad and shared their time.

Memorial visitation will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Tuesday, May 12 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. A service will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Wednesday, May 13 at 10:00 am. A private interment at Little Lake Cemetery will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and PRHC Foundation.
