William Leslie (Les) King

KING, William Leslie (Les): Peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in his 98th year. Les, loving and devoted husband of 70 years to Josephine (Jo, nee Johnston). Loving and proud Dad of Janice and Judy. Remembered lovingly by his Delong cousins and many nieces, nephews, and great and grand nieces and nephews. Survived by his sister-in-law Anna Wood (Everett, predeceased). Predeceased by his sisters Jean Kent (Bill, predeceased), and Gladys Green-Batley (Max Green, Don Batley, predeceased) and is predeceased by Jo’s siblings and spouses; Mary and Ray Johnston, Addie and Roy Stewart, Dorothy and Don Forbes, Jean and Al MacMillan, and Bob Jack. Son of the late William John King and Edna Delong. Les was born and raised in East City and was a lifelong member of Mark Street United Church. He served overseas in World War II and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Engineer’s (RCE). Les was a 43 year employee of Canadian General Electric, and in his early years was active in golfing, bowling and skating, and more recently a member of the McDonnel Street Activity Centre. A Private Family Service will be held in the Chapel of Highland Park Funeral Centre with Reverend Alan P. Boyd of Mark Street United Church officiating. Interment to follow in Highland Park Cemetery.
